Criminal complaint filed against Beşiktaş fan who infiltrated Kocaelispor stands
A criminal complaint has been filed against a Beşiktaş fan who entered the Kocaelispor stands illegally and drew backlash for social media posts made during the match. In a statement, the Kocaelispor Club said, "It was observed that the individual, who entered the stadium using a card that did not belong to him, made provocative posts, and we have filed a criminal complaint against him."
Kocaelispor hosted Beşiktaş in the 24th week of the Trendyol Süper League. The incidents that occurred during and after the cup match played last month, as well as the damage caused to the away section at Kocaeli Stadium, had drawn significant backlash.
While statements made by the fan groups of both clubs increased tensions, no negative incidents occurred between the stands during the match played on Saturday. The situation that drew the ire of Kocaelispor fans was a Beşiktaş supporter who watched the match from block 112, which is reserved for home team fans, and shared posts from the game.
The social media posts of the Beşiktaş fan identified in the Kocaelispor stands did not escape the attention of the Kocaelispor Club. The individual, who entered the stands like a Kocaelispor fan using a Passolig card that did not belong to him, drew the reaction of Kocaelispor fans with his social media posts. Upon noticing the situation, the Kocaelispor Club launched an investigation into the account and its owner. The green-and-black club determined that the Beşiktaş fan, identified as M.T., had entered the match using someone else's Passolig card and had made provocative posts, leading them to file a criminal complaint.
Statement from Kocaelispor
In a statement regarding the matter, the Kocaelispor Club said, "It was observed that an individual named M.T. made provocative posts while watching the match from box 2012 in our stadium during our most recent game. As a result of the investigation conducted by our club, it was determined that the individual in question did not enter our stadium with his own Passolig card. As of today, a criminal complaint has been filed with the Kocaeli Police Department against the individual in question for violating the relevant articles of Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports. We present this to the attention of our fans and our community."
