The Turkish Football Federation announced that national goalkeeper Berke Özer left the camp of his own accord and without the permission of the technical and administrative staff, citing his exclusion from the squad after returning to Istanbul following the Bulgaria match.

The statement regarding the matter, made on the official website of the Turkish Football Federation, included the following remarks:

"Berke Özer, one of the goalkeepers of our National Team, left the camp of his own accord and without the permission of our technical and administrative staff following our delegation's return to Istanbul, citing his exclusion from the match squad for the Bulgaria vs. Turkey match played yesterday.

As has been stated repeatedly in the past, the responsibility and value of wearing the National Team jersey are above everything else. Our National Team is a whole that represents the honor of the country, independent of individuals. In this regard, discipline, respect, and team spirit are our most fundamental principles that we can never compromise on.

At a time when we are fighting with dedication on the path to participating in the World Cup, which we have longed for for many years, and when unity and solidarity within the team are at their peak, such behavior is impossible to accept."

It was announced that Muhammed Şengezer from RAMS Başakşehir has been invited to the preliminary squad to replace Berke Özer.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who transferred from Eyüpspor to the French Ligue 1 team Lille at the beginning of the season, has played in 8 matches.
