Dani Alves released! Bail amount determined
Former Barcelona and Brazil national team footballer Dani Alves has been released from prison, where he was held for sexual assault, after paying a 1 million euro bail.
Former Brazil national team player and Barcelona star Dani Alves has been released by a Spanish court.
The court announced that Alves was released from prison while appealing his rape conviction after paying a 1 million euro bail.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Alves was found guilty last month of sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in December 2022 and was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. He denied the charges throughout the three-day trial.
The 40-year-old Alves had spent the last 14 months at the Brians 2 prison, located 45 minutes from Barcelona, since being held in preventive detention by authorities investigating the rape allegations against him.
Prosecutors also reminded the court that Brazil does not extradite its citizens when they are convicted in other countries.
