Decision reached regarding 5 fans who waved yellow bags at the Kocaelispor-Amedspor match
Five suspects detained in connection with a stadium protest during the Kocaelispor-Amed SF match played in Kocaeli have been released under judicial control.
Five individuals who were detained for waving yellow bags in the stands during the match between Kocaelispor and Amed Sportif Faaliyetler have been placed under house arrest.
The Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation had been launched into the incidents that occurred during the match. The statement noted that the waving of yellow bags in the stands where Kocaelispor fans were located was evaluated as a "provocative act" directed at the opposing team's fans.
It was reported that the investigation is being conducted on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility," as regulated under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code, and "chants containing threats or insults" under the scope of Article 14 of Law No. 6222.
Detention warrants were issued for the 5 identified Kocaelispor fans. After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse and were released by the court under the judicial control condition of "not leaving their residence."
