Detained in betting investigation: Statement from Galatasaray regarding Maruf Güneş
Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk has issued a statement regarding Maruf Güneş, who was detained in an operation concerning allegations of betting and match-fixing.
Galatasaray Club Second President Metin Öztürk made assessments regarding Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman Maruf Güneş, who was detained in an operation conducted into allegations of betting and match-fixing.
Stating that Güneş is someone they work with at Sportif AŞ and who has served Galatasaray for many years, Öztürk expressed that they are waiting for the legal process to be completed and used the following expressions:
I want this to be known first and foremost; we have full confidence in the Turkish judiciary and justice system. We are not privy to all the details of the file, but in line with the information reflected in the public domain, it is stated that the allegations in question relate to low-amount betting transactions from 5 years ago. I sincerely believe that the legal process will be completed as soon as possible and that Maruf will return to us very soon.
