Did TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi wag his finger at Ahmet Nur Çebi?

Beşiktaş's match against Lugano was marked by a finger-wagging gesture from Turkish Football Federation President Mehmet Büyükekşi. It was observed that Büyükekşi, following insults directed at him, wagged his finger at Beşiktaş President Ahmet Nur Çebi before leaving the stands.

The TFF President answered questions from Mehmet Arslan of Hürriyet regarding the incident. Büyükekşi stated the following:

"I had attended the matches played by Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe for earthquake relief, but I hadn't been able to attend a Beşiktaş match. Last night (the night before last), we went to the Lugano match. Before the match, we spoke with Mr. Ahmet Nur Çebi. I expressed my wish, saying, 'I hope Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe play in the final.' I mentioned its importance for the country's coefficient. We spoke in an extremely friendly manner before the match.

During the match, protests suddenly began. It wasn't 30-40 people. One stand would start, and the other would continue. If you asked 100 people, all 100 would say it was an organized protest. After that moment, I got up and left the match. It wasn't just me who got up; we all left the stadium, from our board members to the head of our Representative Committee.

Question: It has been commented that you wagged your finger at Ahmet Nur Çebi before leaving the stadium?

How could that be! I pointed with my finger at the stands behind the goal and the other stands and said, 'This is organized, Mr. President.' Would I wag my finger at someone I was speaking nicely to just 10-15 minutes ago! Furthermore, could such an action be taken against the President of the Beşiktaş Club?

Mr. President Ahmet Nur Çebi remained silent. But let me tell you something very important; only one team will be champion in the Süper Lig and 4 teams will be relegated. The era of blaming referees and the Turkish Football Federation for success or failure must be left behind. The only way for the country to achieve a positive atmosphere in football depends on everyone taking ownership of their duties and responsibilities."
