Diego Simeone extends his contract at Atletico Madrid

Spain's Atletico Madrid club has announced that the contract of Argentine manager Diego Simeone has been extended until 2027.

In a written statement released by the club, it was reported that the contract of Simeone, who has been managing Atletico Madrid since December 2011, has been extended until June 30, 2027.

The Spanish press claimed that the Argentine manager, whose contract was originally set to expire in June 2024, agreed to a 30 percent reduction in his salary in the new deal, and will earn approximately 12 million euros per season.

Simeone, who has managed the red-and-white team in 642 matches so far and holds the record for the most matches managed in club history, has secured victories in 380 of these encounters.

With 53-year-old Simeone, Atletico has won 2 league titles, 1 Copa del Rey, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 2 UEFA Europa League titles, and 2 UEFA Super Cups, while also reaching the Champions League final twice.
