Douglas Costa shock for Samsunspor!
Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım announced that they had reached an agreement with Douglas Costa on all terms and had even prepared his plane ticket.
Samsunspor President Yüksel Yıldırım stated in a comment to A Spor that they had reached an agreement with Douglas Costa, but the transfer did not materialize.
Yıldırım said that they had agreed on all terms with the player and that his plane ticket was ready while the player was in Miami. However, he explained that after watching the Fenerbahçe match, Douglas Costa stated he would need at least 4 weeks to adapt to the team and that he needed to be in Miami with his wife during that time.
He noted that the player felt his support for Samsunspor would be limited and that he was considering staying in the MLS or going to Brazil. Yıldırım expressed that after Douglas Costa honestly communicated the situation, the Samsunspor management thanked him, and the transfer ended in this manner.
Douglas Costa returned to Brazil last week by signing a 1-year contract with Fluminense. The player had announced his decision by stating that he had found the opportunity he was looking for in his career and that Fluminense was a competitive team.
