The home team took the lead in the 49th minute with a goal from Pablo Solari, while the visiting team, Boca Juniors, leveled the score at 1-1 with a goal from Cristian Medina in the 70th minute.
With this result, following the first stage matches in the league, River Plate rose to the top of Group A with 13 points, while Boca Juniors placed 7th in Group B with 10 points.
