Dursun Özbek breaks silence on Erden Timur

Following Galatasaray's 4-1 victory over Trabzonspor in the Super Cup semi-final played in Gaziantep, which secured their spot in the final, President Dursun Özbek made evaluations regarding the current agenda after the match.

Responding to questions from members of the press at the exit of Gaziantep Stadium after the match concluded, Özbek made statements regarding both sporting developments and the club's agenda.

TOUCHED ON THE TRANSFER PROCESS

Speaking about transfer efforts, Dursun Özbek drew attention to the spending limits announced by the Turkish Football Federation. Stating that Galatasaray's high limit is linked to its income level, Özbek expressed that transfer planning was done in advance.

Özbek said, “The limits have been announced. The reason Galatasaray's limit is higher than other clubs is that its revenues are at a high level. We entered the transfer season prepared. Our needs are clear. There are players identified by our coach and our scouting team. Our negotiations had started earlier. We have time for the process, but we want to complete the transfers as soon as possible.”

REMINDED OF SUMMER TRANSFERS

Continuing his remarks, the Galatasaray President also touched upon the previous transfer period. Emphasizing the impact of the transfers made on the pitch, Özbek stated that a process consistent with the technical staff and scouting structure is being carried out.

Özbek stated, “When you look at the summer transfer period, we made five transfers and all five took the field. This situation is an indicator of the success in the transfer process. We have made our preparations. We are acting in line with the demands of our head coach and the suggestions of our scouting team. Our needs in the winter transfer period are clear. We are working to complete them. Our fans should be at ease.”

ERDEN TİMUR VISIT

Addressing another topic on the agenda, Dursun Özbek announced that he had visited Erden Timur, who is currently imprisoned in Silivri.

Reminding that he and Timur worked together at Galatasaray in the past, Özbek stated that he met with him during the visit and made evaluations regarding his situation.

Sharing details about the visit, Özbek drew attention to Erden Timur's commitment to the club. Özbek said, “My brother Erden is a good Galatasaray supporter. He previously supported Galatasaray as a sponsor when I was president. He is currently experiencing some problems. In this process, as the Galatasaray community and as the President of Galatasaray Sports Club, we will always be by his side. I visited him, we talked. He seemed in good spirits. Hopefully, he will return to us and continue to serve Galatasaray.”
