Dursun Özbek responds to Acun Ilıcalı: We have stood against this mentality before, and we will do so again

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has responded to the remarks made by Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı.

Dursun Özbek's statement is as follows:

"Yesterday, at the invitation of Turkish Football Federation President Mr. İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, we met with the presidents of the Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Trabzonspor clubs. During this meeting, all of us presidents decided to be more careful in our future statements in order to foster a climate of brotherhood."

Less than 24 hours after our decision, an executive from one of the clubs present at that meeting made statements on a television program attempting to target our club with the same perceptions once again. Despite this insincerity, we continue to stand by our word.

We have stood against this mentality that tries to turn brother against brother, stir up society, and create chaos at times when our country needs unity and solidarity the most, and hopes to profit from it, and we will continue to stand against it."

WHAT DID METİN ÖZTÜRK SAY?

Galatasaray Club Second President Metin Öztürk responded to the referral of Okan Buruk to the PFDK (Professional Football Discipline Committee) and the statements of Acun Ilıcalı. Regarding Ilıcalı, Öztürk said, "It is futile to respond to someone who confuses the Dominican Republic with Turkey. Someone who confuses the contestants there with the clubs and players of the Süper Lig. Let him go back to playing in his own neighborhood."
