Dursun Özbek speaks harshly: I will not hand over Galatasaray's assets

Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Özbek and his team met with members to share ideas about the club and celebrate Mother's Day together.

In addition to President Dursun Özbek, second president Metin Öztürk, vice presidents Niyazi Yelkencioğlu and Mehmet Saruhan Cibara, general secretary Eray Yazgan, and board member Bora İsmail Bahçetepe attended the event held at the Kalamış Facilities.

Drawing attention to the meaning of the day, Özbek said, "Today is the day of our mothers, the crown of our heads. Our mothers deserve the most beautiful and best of everything. I celebrate the day of all mothers and expectant mothers with gratitude. There are mothers who have passed away, including my own mother. May their souls rest in peace."

Stating that he has kept the promises he made throughout his presidency, Özbek said, "My colleagues have put in a great effort for the successes here. If it weren't for your support, we would have no chance of being successful. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us and the community during this period. I also thank our fans who are loyal to our team and fill our stadium for every match."

Dursun Özbek stated that the first issue they addressed when they took office was the social facilities, and added, "We had an island that had been unusable for a long time. We obtained the easement title for the parcels belonging to the Treasury on our island for 30 years. Afterwards, we needed zoning status for construction. We completely eliminated the disputes that could arise on our island. The Kalamış Facilities also had needs. With our renovation works, we ensured that this facility is used better."

REGARDING THE BANKS ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT 

"We turned our building, which was under construction in Mecidiyeköy, into a residence project. With the revenues from that project, we purchased the 40-decare land belonging to Emlak Konut adjacent to our facilities in Florya. Thus, the value of our real estate in Florya has also increased. This situation will help us exit the Banks Association agreement under the best conditions. The process is currently ongoing. I ask you, our valued members, do not give credit to those who speak falsely. We are working for every penny of Galatasaray. There are those who try to smear my colleagues with hearsay information. Do not believe them."

YOU CANNOT INSULT THE OFFICE

Galatasaray Sports Club President Dursun Özbek stated that his door is open to everyone and said, "You can criticize us. Come and let's talk about whatever you are curious about. You cannot fail to attend the council meetings and general assemblies and then say, 'The President is handing over Florya.' You cannot insult the office entrusted to me. I am extremely emotional about this. I grew up in Galatasaray. You elected me. In this environment where we are trying to establish a climate of love, such expressions should not exist. I came to solve Galatasaray's problems. I did not come to hand over Galatasaray's assets to myself."

Explaining that they want to gather the amateur branches in one place, Özbek said, "We rented a 62-decare land right next to our stadium for 49 years. If we are elected in the coming period, we will realize this project without creating a financial burden for Galatasaray. With this project, we will create a source of income for Galatasaray and gather the scattered state of our amateur branches. Sports in the world is going to a completely different place. Our deficiency in football is currently Florya. 45 years have passed and we have come this far with these facilities. We have used the same facility for 45 years. We need to build the new facilities we need. For this purpose, we are working for the facilities in Kemerburgaz."

Stating that they will try to be successful in Europe in the new term, Özbek concluded his words as follows:

"In every branch we compete in, we must strive to be the best. We are planning for this. In men's water polo, we won the championship this year that we lost in the final last year. Our women's team is also heading for the championship. We are giving them all kinds of support. In sailing, Ecem Güzel continues her preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Our hearts will beat with her in Paris. We want to improve the facilities used by our rowing branch and the boathouse allocated to us by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in the Golden Horn. We are working for a new equestrian facility. We have started work for this. If we have the honor of performing this duty again, I promise that I will work to do better than what we have achieved. I invite you to be united as one fist to carry Galatasaray beyond our dreams."

After his speech, Dursun Özbek invited the names on his new management list to the stage.
