Dursun Özbek: There were those who wanted to stop us

Galatasaray Club's ordinary council meeting for May was held. The meeting, organized at RAMS Park under the chairmanship of Aykutalp Derkan, was attended by Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek, the management, and council members.

Making statements at the meeting, Dursun Özbek explained that they were very happy and proud, as they are every May, stating, "Our football team made us proud by winning their fourth consecutive and 26th championship in total. I would like to thank our coach Okan Buruk, the technical staff, our players, and our employees, who put great effort into this success. I also send my thanks to our fans who were with us throughout the season. We achieved this success with their support. We will receive the championship trophy at our stadium on Friday. We will celebrate our 26th championship with our fans. I invite all our fans to experience the excitement of the championship."

Stating that he has been in the presidency for approximately 23 months, Özbek noted the following:

I would like to thank my friends who worked for Galatasaray with us during this period, who are not on our list for the upcoming term but have always supported us. They always worked for the success of Galatasaray. We are now candidates for this position for another 2 years. We went through difficult times. There were those who wanted to stop us. Your support became our strength. We have set our slogan for this election period as 'The Galatasaray of the Future'. We have the opportunity to write a brand new story with what we will achieve in this period. We have an important opportunity for this. I am here before you with this historical responsibility. I will work for the Galatasaray of the future."

Calling the names he will work with on the board of directors in the new term to the podium, Özbek said:

"The management you elected in 2024 has completed its term. I will continue to serve you with the friends I have invited here for the 2026-2028 period. We will ask for your authorization and support to do much more than what we have done so far. We have a historic opportunity ahead of us. I want to take advantage of this opportunity. I invite everyone to the election on May 23."
