Dursun Özbek: We will build a team worthy of Galatasaray's 121-year history

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek made statements to members of the press before the first training session of the season held at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities.

Wishing success to all teams playing in the league, President Özbek said, "I wish for a new season that passes without injuries and in the spirit of fair play. As Galatasaray, our goal is clear. To win our 27th league title by becoming champions for the 5th consecutive time. My colleagues on the board of directors and I are working very hard for this.

Galatasaray is the team that plays the best football in Turkey. Our goal this season is to form one of the best teams in Europe as well," he said.

Emphasizing that they will make the necessary transfers, Özbek said, "Let no one have any doubts. We will build a team worthy of Galatasaray's 121-year history. We will make the necessary moves. I was also the president of this club before, between 2015 and 2018. Remember the teams we built in the past. Remember Gomis, Belhanda, Fernando, Feghouli, and Mariano. This team dominated the league for 2 years in a row and became champion. In my second term, which began in 2022, we transferred Icardi, Osimhen, Uğurcan Çakır, Sane, and Mertens. In the past period, they were saying, 'Will he buy Osimhen? Can he bring him?' We brought Osimhen. We brought players who are among the world stars, like Torreira, to Galatasaray. There were always remarks like, 'It's easy to say, let's see you do it.' We were not influenced by these. We have always made the transfers to the necessary positions," he stated.
