World No. 2 Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has been eliminated in the second round of the Paris Masters tournament in a major upset.
World No. 2 Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has been eliminated in the second round of the Paris Masters, organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
Alcaraz, one of the top favorites in the ATP 1000 series event, faced Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin in his opening match of the tournament.
Safiullin pulled off a major upset by defeating his opponent 2-0 with set scores of 6-3 and 6-4.
Safiullin will face his compatriot Karen Khachanov in the third round.
