Eda Erdem's statue to be unveiled on Women's Day

Fenerbahçe Volleyball Team captain and national volleyball player Eda Erdem's statue project has gained momentum. The planned unveiling date for the statue has also been determined.

In a statement made today regarding the statue of Eda Erdem, which was previously announced by club president Ali Koç, Fenerbahçe Sports Club Board Member in Charge of Volleyball Simla Türker Bayazıt stated that the statue is planned to be unveiled during the 2024 International Women's Day week on March 8. Bayazıt said, "We want to unveil Eda Erdem's statue during the week of March 8, International Women's Day, in 2024. It will be the first Women's Day of the second century of our Republic."

The statue of Eda Erdem Dündar, one of the legendary captains of the Fenerbahçe Opet Women's Volleyball Team and the A National Women's Volleyball Team, will be created by Sculptor and Architect Pınar Öktem Doğan. One of the national athlete's iconic poses will be used for the statue.

Pınar Öktem Doğan described Eda Erdem's statue with these words: "That stance is extraordinarily beautiful. It is a very determined stance, a tremendous posture leading to success. I had no hesitation there, but there were hesitations regarding her hair. I discussed this with my other colleagues as well. We wondered if it should be this, or her usual braided hair. However, that side is so beautiful, and her hair lifting up while jumping gives such momentum, it provides movement. After all, when you look at a good sculpture; if it is not static and you can feel its next movement, then the sculpture has been worked on correctly. If you can see the next step in the work, that work is correct."
