Egypt coach Hossam Hassan's penalty outburst: I won't watch the World Cup

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan, whose team lost 3-2 to Argentina in the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup, said, "If they want Argentina to win so much, why do they invite everyone to take part in the tournament?"

Argentina advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Egypt 3-2 in the last 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in a match in which they had fallen 2-0 behind. The goals that sent Argentina through were scored by Romero in the 79th minute, Messi in the 83rd minute and Fernandez in the 90+2nd minute.

Speaking sharply at the press conference held after the match, Egypt national team coach Hassan emphasized that they had suffered injustices during the game and said the following:

"They may want Messi to continue"

"We were the better side in the match, but football is not fair. We had a penalty, and the referee disallowed our third goal; I don't know why. Perhaps everything that happened is entirely the result of a marketing strategy. For the commercial success of the World Cup, they may want the last World Cup champion to remain in the tournament and Messi to continue his run here.

I dare say the person who scheduled these matches has never played football in his life. Because no match is played at this hour. At noon, people go for a walk or have brunch; a football match is not played. There are too many elements open to debate. I promise you, I will no longer watch World Cup matches. This is my way of standing against this situation.
