Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Deputy Chairman Erden Timur made significant remarks regarding the club's recent transfers during an appearance on a YouTube channel.
Timur stated the following:
"IF YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE TERMS..."
"Sacha Boey did not play in the match because Bayern Munich wanted him. Bayern waited until the last moment but could not develop an alternative. Bayern had authorized the player's agent for the transfer. Therefore, the agent could not bring an offer from another team. There were 7-8 days left, and we did not want to let him go. I said that if they were coming with a price below 25 [million], they should turn back from the airport. Sacha was protesting this because he wanted to go. I told Sacha, 'I promise you will go, we will not interfere with your dreams.' They thought we had no ammunition left. If you cannot change the terms on the table, you have to flip the table."
"THESE MEN ALREADY HAVE MONEY"
"How did Mauro Icardi's arrival here happen? Did I stand on my head to be confident when I was a child! He was earning 8 million Euros in salary at that time. We didn't have such a chance back then either. We said let's make PSG pay 90 percent of his salary, etc. They were saying 'sure, sure.' The player just had to want Galatasaray so that his club would make a decision regarding the salary. We spoke with Wanda Nara. There was his agent, Pino. We took care of everything. Showing value is very important. They always say 'this much money was given.' These men already have money. Your humanity is what influences them."
"TORREIRA AND MERTENS..."
"It wasn't just Icardi; many offers came for Torreira and Mertens. Juventus also wanted Mertens at that time. It didn't happen due to the rivalry with Napoli. Even though they offered more money, he came to Galatasaray."
