Ergin Ataman responds to arrest rumors!

Ergin Ataman, who is the head coach of Panathinaikos in the Greek Basketball League, suffered a 91-83 defeat against Olympiacos in the play-off semi-finals. During the match, following abusive chants directed at Turkey by Olympiacos fans, Ataman received his second technical foul and was ejected from the game.

In a statement to HT Spor, Ergin Ataman noted that the allegations claiming he insulted Olympiacos fans do not reflect the truth.

Emphasizing that such reports are completely fabricated, Ataman said, "Contrary to what is expected, there is no major backlash against me in Greece. Aside from the Olympiacos fanatics, the public is generally behind me."

'WE WILL BE CHAMPIONS'

Ataman also recalled that the presidents of the two clubs have taken legal action against each other and that the Greek Ministry of Sports has called both clubs to a meeting. "We have now turned our focus entirely to the series. I don't know when the match will be played, but we will win this series and become champions," he stated.
