In the third week of the European Football Championship held in Germany, Croatia and Italy faced off in Group B at the Leipzig Stadium. The first half of the match, officiated by Dutch referee Danny Makkelie, ended in a goalless draw.

Croatia took a 1-0 lead with a goal scored by Luka Modric in the 55th minute. Italy equalized with a goal by Mattia Zaccagni in the 90+8th minute, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
