In the first week of the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) held in Germany, Portugal and Czechia faced off at the Red Bull Merkur Spiel Arena in Group F, which also includes Turkey.
The first half of the match, officiated by Italian referee Marco Guida, ended scoreless.
The first goal of the second half came from Czechia. In the 62nd minute, following a pass from Vladimir Coufal on the left wing, Lukas Provod fired a powerful shot from just behind the penalty arc into the net, giving Czechia a 1-0 lead.

In the 69th minute, Portugal equalized with an own goal by Robin Hranac. In the 87th minute, Portugal scored a goal to take the lead, but following a VAR review, the referee disallowed the goal due to an offside position. In the 90+2nd minute, following a cross from Neto from the left wing into the penalty area, Conceiçao found the ball after a defensive error and sent it into the net, putting Portugal ahead 2-1. This goal became the final score of the match.
