Excitement for the new season begins in the UEFA Champions League

Excitement for the new season begins in the UEFA Champions League

The 2024-2025 season of the UEFA Champions League began with the first week of matches in the newly introduced league format. In the first matches of the day at 19:45, Juventus, featuring Turkish national player Kenan Yıldız, defeated visiting PSV Eindhoven 3-1.

Scoring his team's first goal, Kenan marked his first-ever Champions League goal and was also named player of the match.

In the other match, English side Aston Villa defeated Swiss representative Young Boys, who had eliminated Galatasaray to reach the tournament, 3-0 away from home.

BAYERN MUNICH WINS THE 11-GOAL THRILLER

German side Bayern Munich defeated Croatian representative Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 in the highest-scoring match of the day. The goals that brought victory to Bayern Munich were scored by Harry Kane (4), Michael Olise (2), Raphael Guerreiro, Leroy Sane, and Leon Goretzka. Zagreb's goals were scored by Bruno Petkovic and Takuya Ogiwara. Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane, who scored 3 of his 4 goals in the match from penalties, became the first player in Champions League history to score a hat-trick of penalties.

REAL MADRID STARTS WITH A WIN

Real Madrid, who finished the 2023-2024 season as champions of the Champions League, defeated German side Stuttgart 3-1 in their first match of the new season. The goals that brought victory to the Spanish side came from Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rüdiger, and Endrick. Stuttgart's only goal was scored by Deniz Undav. Turkish national player Arda Güler, who plays for Real Madrid, entered the game in the 75th minute, replacing Rodrygo.

LIVERPOOL BEATS MILAN 3-1

In another important match of the day, Liverpool defeated Milan 3-1. Liverpool's goals were scored by Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Dominik Szoboszlai, while Milan's goal came from Christian Pulisic.
