Faruk Koca resigns from AKP membership
Faruk Koca, who attacked referee Halil Umut Meler, has resigned from his AKP membership.
Faruk Koca, the former president of the MKE Ankaragücü club who punched referee Halil Umut Meler following the MKE Ankaragücü-Çaykur Rizespor match, has resigned from his AKP membership.
It was decided at the AKP Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) meeting held on Tuesday, November 12, that Koca, an AKP member, would be referred to the Central Disciplinary Board (MDK) with a request for his permanent expulsion.
Koca was referred to the MDK in accordance with Article 117, Paragraph 1 of the party charter, on the grounds of "participating in, supporting, or personally engaging in activities, actions, or transactions contrary to the charter and program, democracy, human rights, and the universal fundamental rules and norms of law."
A notification was sent by the board to obtain Faruk Koca's defense.
Upon this, Koca, who is currently detained at the Sincan Closed Penal Execution Institution, delivered his petition containing his resignation from AKP membership to the Party Headquarters through his lawyers.
Consequently, there was no longer a need for the MDK to make any decision regarding Koca.
