Fatih Tekke responds to resignation rumors
Trabzonspor Head Coach Fatih Tekke answered questions from members of the press at the Mehmet Ali Yılmaz Facilities ahead of the preparations for the Fenerbahçe match.
Stating that the remarks made by Uğurcan Çakır accurately reflect the process, Tekke said, "The things I have experienced over the last 6 months are almost the same. Uğurcan Çakır is an important asset for Trabzonspor and the best goalkeeper in Turkey."
The player's desire and wish to leave determined this transfer. These types of things can happen in football. As in the statement made by our former captain, the desire to turn a new page and the ambition to set new goals led to the transfer.
Trabzonspor is not a club that will lose its way with the departure of any player. We gave away our best player, but I have always told my players; we might fall, but we will get back up," he said.
Stating that the first 4-week period was very difficult, Tekke said, "I thought the second period would be more comfortable, but unfortunately, it wasn't just Uğurcan Çakır; the absence of Nwakaeme for 2-3 months and the injuries to Pina and Augusto created this situation. But we will continue on our path," he added.
Fatih Tekke stated that he took the job at the request of the fans, saying, "We arrived during the most chaotic period of recent years. Just as our fans asked me to come, my team, which works voluntarily 7/24, will leave the moment the fans don't want us. It could be tomorrow, or it could be in 10 days. I want to stay here for 10 years, but that doesn't seem very realistic. There is no such thing as me resigning from Trabzonspor," he expressed.
Evaluating the transfer agenda, Tekke said, "It is true that we are interested in Başakşehir goalkeeper Muhammet Şengezer and Ernest Muci. However, the process is on hold because the financial conditions for the goalkeeper transfer did not materialize as we wanted. Muci, on the other hand, has just come onto our agenda. He is a talented player I admire. Negotiations are ongoing, and my expectation is that they will be positive," he said.
Speaking about who will guard the goal in the Fenerbahçe match, Tekke said, "Onuralp Çevikkan has just started training; he had an injury. We have a possibility of continuing with Ahmet Doğan Yıldırım and Erol. We hope Onuralp will be in good condition by the match. If we cannot make a goalkeeper transfer, we have a plan to spend this season with a loan goalkeeper. We cannot find the conditions we want regarding a Turkish goalkeeper. As for foreign goalkeeper transfers, high figures are emerging, and the quota restriction is also a current issue," he said.
Stating that the probability of Pina being ready for the Fenerbahçe match is low, Tekke said, "We have few alternatives in this area. We have Arif and Mustafa at left-back. We can use Arif and Mustafa as we did in the Samsunspor match, or we can play with three at the back," he expressed.
Emphasizing that he would not lose his authenticity, Tekke concluded his remarks by saying, "The system wants you to lose your authenticity, but I cannot lose mine; I explain everything clearly. Our new signing, Benjamin, has a stress fracture he suffered three months ago. If he reaches his performance level, he will excite the Trabzonspor fans. I took this risk, and I hope God does not embarrass me. We may have to wait a month or a month and a half for him to become healthy."
