Fenerbahçe Beko was defeated 78-73 by Israeli representative Maccabi Playtika, whom they visited in Serbia during the 9th week of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
The venue for the 9th-week matchup, which was originally scheduled to be hosted by the yellow-navy team in Istanbul, was changed due to Israel's attacks on Gaza. The match was played behind closed doors in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, with Maccabi serving as the host.
Starting the game well, Fenerbahçe finished the first quarter ahead 28-21, thanks to the scoring efforts of Wilbekin, Tarık Biberoviç, Hayes-Davis, and Motley. The yellow-navy team did not start the second quarter well but recovered in the final stretch to enter halftime leading 46-38.
Fenerbahçe, which committed turnovers in the second half of the third period after starting with an eight-point lead, could not prevent their opponent from closing the gap but still finished the quarter ahead 57-56. The yellow-navy team, which had previously extended the lead to double digits, could not maintain their advantage in the fourth quarter. Fenerbahçe Beko lost the match 78-73, which saw high tension in the final moments.
For the yellow-navy side, Wilbekin and Tarık Biberovic, who set a career record in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, each scored 18 points. In addition to the performance of these two players, Hayes-Davis's 16 points were not enough to prevent the defeat.
For Maccabi, Brown with 18 points and Colson with 13 points and 14 rebounds played the leading roles in the victory.
Fenerbahçe Beko was defeated by Maccabi following their loss to Monaco during their double-game week on the road. The number of defeats for the yellow-navy team rose to 4. The Israeli representative secured their 5th victory in their 8th game.
