In the 6th minute of the match played at Ülker Stadium, Rangers took a 1-0 lead with a goal from Cyriel Dessers.

Fenerbahçe responded to this goal in the 30th minute. Alexander Djiku scored with a volley from a corner kick to bring the score to 1-1.

Finding another goal through Vaclav Cerny in the 42nd minute, Rangers finished the first half leading 2-1.

Rangers' goal in the 50th minute was disallowed for offside following a VAR review.

The goal the Scottish side found with Dessers in the 58th minute was also ruled invalid due to offside after a warning from VAR.

Rangers found the goal that extended the lead to 2 in the 81st minute. Vaclav Cerny, who slipped behind the defense on a pass from Nicolas Raskin, found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and sent the ball into the net with his shot: 3-1.

There were no more goals in the remainder of the match, and the game ended with a 3-1 victory for Rangers.

The return leg of the match will be played on Thursday, March 13, in Glasgow, Scotland.

Fenerbahçe's 18-match unbeaten streak across all competitions came to an end after their 3-1 defeat to Rangers in the UEFA Europa League.

In the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16, Fenerbahçe was defeated 3-1 at home by Scottish representative Rangers. The only goal for the yellow-navies came from Alexander Djiku. Fenerbahçe, which had not lost in its last 18 matches played in the Trendyol Super League, Europa League, and Ziraat Turkish Cup before this match, suffered a defeat.
