Fenerbahçe files official request for foreign referee for derby
As debates over a foreign referee for the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe match continue, it has been learned that the Yellow-Navy club will make an official request to the TFF for a foreign referee.
Derby excitement is building for the 25th week of the Süper Lig.
Before the massive match where league leaders Galatasaray will host their closest rival Fenerbahçe, debates regarding a foreign referee have begun in the sports community.
While the Fenerbahçe Club has called for a foreign referee, Galatasaray Manager Okan Buruk had also stated that he would be open to the idea.
Following these mutual statements, all eyes have turned to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
OFFICIAL REQUEST FOR FOREIGN REFEREE
According to a report by Sabah, it has been noted that the Yellow-Navy side will file an official request with the TFF for the derby to be officiated by a foreign referee.
The report emphasized that the Yellow-Red side will not be making a request to the federation as they do not want a foreign referee.
The TFF, however, bases its most important criterion on both teams making an official request.
It will become clear in the coming days whether the derby will be officiated by a domestic or foreign referee.
