Fenerbahçe issues statement following widely discussed visit

Fenerbahçe Club has clarified the allegations circulating on social media regarding the presence of Mert Hakan Yandaş's signature on a jersey presented during President Sadettin Saran’s visit to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.

In a written statement issued by the club, it was stated that the claims appearing on some social media accounts were untrue and intended to mislead the public.

The statement emphasized that the jersey presented to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç during the visit was one that had been collectively signed by the players in the team squad in the past and is used as a standard souvenir for official visits.

The statement made by Fenerbahçe is as follows:

"Due to claims containing disinformation and not reflecting the truth that have appeared on some social media platforms, a need has arisen to inform the public accurately.

The jersey presented to our Minister of Justice, Mr. Yılmaz Tunç, during the visit to the Ministry of Justice was offered on behalf of our club by our President, Sadettin Saran. The jersey in question is a standard souvenir jersey that was collectively signed by the players in our team squad in the past and is used during official visits.

The fact that there is an ongoing judicial process regarding one of our players whose signature is on the jersey cannot be associated with the content of the visit or the office being visited.

Comments in this direction are far from legal reality and are of a nature that misleads the public.

Our club maintains its respect for the rule of law, the independence of judicial processes, and the presumption of innocence under all circumstances.

It is unacceptable for the state offices visited, our club, or our club president to be targeted by being associated with ongoing judicial processes."
