Fenerbahçe issues statement regarding Partizan's racist banner

In the 12th week of the Euroleague, Fenerbahçe Beko secured an important victory by defeating Partizan 99-87 in Belgrade. However, a banner displayed by Partizan fans during the match overshadowed the game. The Serbian fans drew ire by unfurling a banner depicting Milos Obilic, who killed Ottoman Sultan Murad I during the Battle of Kosovo in 1389.

The chants against Turks throughout the match and the banner caused great discomfort within the Fenerbahçe camp. Cem Ciritci, the board member responsible for Fenerbahçe Basketball, stated on the club's website that they would file complaints with the necessary authorities regarding this ugly incident.

Ciritci said, "This banner was hanging there while we were practicing. We conveyed our necessary complaints to the authorities, but it was still allowed to remain. After the match, we spoke with the officials and demanded an explanation regarding this situation. We will submit our complaint again, but our players gave the best answer on the court. We will host them in the best way possible in the return leg."
