Fenerbahçe takes action to UEFA and IFAB: Referees, illegal betting, irregularities...

Fenerbahçe's legal team is taking the issues regarding referees and the recently surfaced allegations of illegal betting to IFAB and UEFA.

According to a report by Sözcü Newspaper; work regarding the incidents has begun under the instructions of President Ali Koç.

THEY WILL FILE A COMPLAINT

The yellow-navy club's lawyers are preparing a comprehensive file on issues such as factions within the referee body, irregularities in appointments, backdated medical reports, illegal betting, and match-fixing allegations.

The club will present this file to UEFA and the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Furthermore, complaints will also be filed with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"WILL THIS BE THE SUSURLUK OF TURKISH FOOTBALL?"

Referring to the resignation of Kemal Yılmaz, the assistant referee of the Fenerbahçe-Hatayspor match, Koç had stated the following regarding the referees:

“The resigning referee, the penalties imposed, and the appointments are affecting the ability of referees to make fair and impartial decisions. We have been saying this for years. In the context of all these developments, my statements on Friday and the statements I will make today have become a necessity. If what happened last week had occurred in another country, it would have caused an uproar. The dynamics of football would have changed. Let's see what will happen in our country? Will it be ignored as always, or will these latest events be the Susurluk of Turkish football?

These are things that happened in 6 days. Then there are the things that have been happening for a few years before this. As Fenerbahçe, we have made 5 applications regarding these events since November 2020. Investigate, inquire, understand whether it is true or not. This has 2 advantages. If it is true, you get to the bottom of it, and when you get to the bottom of it, you might get to the bottom of other issues as well. If it is not true, those who make baseless claims will understand that there is a price to pay for making such claims. They will act much more responsibly accordingly. It is a win-win situation in every way.”
