Fenerbahçe's debt to Ali Koç has been revealed!
During Fenerbahçe's extraordinary general assembly meeting, the club's debt to Ali Koç and Koç's stance regarding this debt were disclosed. Vice President Murat Salar stated that Koç has not demanded repayment of his receivables.
At the Fenerbahçe Sports Club's extraordinary general assembly meeting, the club's debt to its former president Ali Koç was brought to the agenda. Vice President Murat Salar stated in his address at the meeting that the club's debt to Koç stands at 3 billion 510 million liras. However, he emphasized that Koç has frequently stated that he does not demand this debt and has no receivables from Fenerbahçe.
Salar's statements are as follows:
'Of the item you see as 4 billion 129 million liras under other debts, approximately 3 billion 510 million liras is owed to our president, Mr. Ali Koç... It is our club's personal debt to him.
Our president has frequently used the phrase, "I have no receivables from Fenerbahçe." The independent audit firm naturally has to record this as a debt because the debt exists there.
I also spoke with our president yesterday to ask, "What can we do?" because while our president has such an intention, the debt appears in the official records. We discussed what we could do, perhaps through a donation or similar means. It turns out there can be various handicaps to that.
I can share this with you because I spoke with him personally; I said to our president, Mr. Ali Koç, may God grant him a long life, but when the inevitable happens and if the debt remains, it could also affect his heirs. Our president has also declared this to us. He conveyed to me that he is ready to provide a statement that he has no receivables from the club in a way that would also bind his heirs, by establishing the tax, regulatory, and legal basis for it, and I am sharing this with you.'
