FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament draw to be held on November 27
The draw for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will take place on Monday, November 27.
In a statement from FIBA, it was stated, "The excitement on the road to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will rise even further with the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 draw, which will take place later this month."
It was announced that the draw will be held on Monday, November 27, at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.
It was reported that Luol Deng, a Great Britain national team legend, two-time NBA All-Star, and current President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation, will conduct the draw, and the four countries that will host the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 will also be announced prior to the draw.
In the draw, the 24 teams that qualified for the qualifiers will be distributed into one of the four FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, and each of the four host countries will automatically participate in the tournament they are hosting.
Turkey did not qualify for the qualifiers as a result of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament.
The total of 19 countries that qualified for the qualifiers through the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup are as follows:
Angola, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Montenegro, New Zealand, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Slovenia, and Spain.
The other 5 countries that will participate in the qualifiers by winning the 2023 FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying tournaments held in August 2023 are as follows:
Bahamas, Bahrain, Cameroon, Croatia, Poland.
