Flash Super Cup call from former presidents reacting to TFF! 'Do not take the field'

Reactions continue over the decision to play the Super Cup Final between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in Saudi Arabia.

Former Galatasaray presidents Ünal Aysal and Mehmet Cansun, along with former executive Sedat Doğan, made statements regarding the Super Cup.

Speaking to Sözcü TV, Sedat Doğan said the following;

"THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF INCOMPETENCE"

"In international relations, the power of countries is divided into 'soft power' and 'hard power'. Sports are a 'soft power'. You are attempting to play your 100th-anniversary cup in Saudi Arabia, in the very field of sports where you build the most international relations. This is an example of incompetence. It is an example of not listening to the people."

"THEY SHOULD SAY WE ARE NOT TAKING THE FIELD"

"If the TFF President says 'We will play this match in Saudi Arabia' due to his personal ego and ambition, despite the applications of the clubs, there is bad faith involved. The clubs had the will to resolve this matter without raising tensions. At this point, what needs to be done is clear. The two club presidents and their boards should say, 'If it is not played here, we are not taking the field.' I expect this from the Galatasaray President. If one says they are not taking the field, the other won't either."

"THEY RAZOR-BLADED FENERBAHÇE"

Regarding the attack on Meler, Doğan stated, "A president punching a referee was punished in this way due to his popularity. Two years ago, the Fenerbahçe Women's Team was attacked with razor blades in Diyarbakır. Last year, grave events occurred during the Amed-Bursa match. Both in Diyarbakır and in Bursa. The Republic of Turkey, with all its intelligence and the resources of the Ministry of Interior, could not prevent this. Ali Koç mentioned that there was no fair competition and stated that there was no competent president or management. If these things happened in democratic countries, there would be no management left."

"I WOULD NOT SEND THE TEAM TO THE FIELD"

Former Galatasaray presidents Ünal Aysal and Mehmet Cansun also made statements regarding the Super Cup being played in Saudi Arabia.

Stating that "The Super Cup final should be played in Turkey in this special year," Ünal Aysal said, "Even if an agreement has been made, it should either be postponed or the compensation should be paid. The presidents must come together and find a solution. If the insistence on Saudi Arabia continues, it should either not be played this year or be postponed to next year. If neither of these is possible; if I were the Galatasaray President, I would display a stance worthy of the 100th anniversary of the Republic and would not send the team to the field."

"NO ONE CAN FORCE ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING"

Former president Mehmet Cansun also reacted to the TFF's Super Cup decision. Drawing attention to the 100th anniversary of the Republic, Cansun said, "It is very important for the two pillars of the country's sports to demonstrate national unity in this special year. For this reason, it would not be right for the final to be played in Saudi Arabia or any other country. No one can force Galatasaray to do anything. If necessary, in order to demonstrate Galatasaray's commitment to the Republic, this match should not be attended. The team should not take the field. We stand by the president and the board even in such a firm stance."
