Fluminense are the South American Super Cup champions!
Brazilian side Fluminense defeated LDU Quito 2-0 in the second leg of the South American Super Cup final with goals from Jhon Arias, securing the trophy for the first time in their history.
Fluminense became champions after defeating LDU Quito 2-0 in the second leg of the 2024 South American Super Cup (Recopa Sudamericana).
In the tournament, organized for the 32nd time this year by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), Brazilian team Fluminense, winners of last season's Libertadores Cup, faced Ecuadorian side LDU Quito, winners of the Sudamericana Cup, in the second leg match played at the Maracana Stadium.
Fluminense, who lost the first leg away 1-0, defeated their opponent 2-0 with goals from Jhon Arias in the 76th and 90th minutes, the second of which was a penalty.
Fluminense, for whom former Galatasaray player Felipe Melo played in the first half, finished the match with 10 men after John Kennedy was shown a red card in the 79th minute.
With this result, Fluminense took the trophy to their museum for the first time in their history.
