Fred's suspension reduced to 2 matches

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Arbitration Board has reduced the 3-match suspension handed to Fenerbahçe's Fred.

In a statement released by the TFF, it was announced that the penalty for Fred, who received a red card for "insulting" during the Kayserispor match and was initially given a 3-match ban and a 39 thousand TL fine, has been corrected to a 2-match ban and a 26 thousand TL fine.

The suspension for Mert Hakan Yandaş, who was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the same match, was reduced from 2 matches to 1 match.

Here is the statement issued by the TFF;

"Regarding the appeal against the 3-match official competition ban and 39,000.00 TL fine imposed on Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. player Frederico Rodrigues De Paula Santos for insulting the match referee, in accordance with Articles 41/1-a and 35/4 of the Football Disciplinary Instructions (FDT); it has been determined that the proven violation constitutes an 'Unsportsmanlike Conduct' violation as regulated by Article 36 of the FDT. Therefore, the PFDK decision has been corrected and upheld by majority vote as a 2-match official competition ban and a 26,000.00 TL fine, in accordance with Articles 36 and 35/4 of the FDT.

- It has been decided by unanimous vote that the 2-match official competition ban and 78,000.00 TL fine imposed on Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. player Mert Hakan Yandaş for his unsportsmanlike conduct toward the match referee following his expulsion due to a double yellow card—in addition to the match he was already required to miss due to the double yellow card—be corrected and upheld by applying Article 13 of the FDT, reducing the final penalty by 1/2 to a 1-match official competition ban and a 39,000.00 TL fine."
