The red-and-whites extended the lead to 2 in the 24th minute with a goal from Bertrand Traore. In Fortuna Sittard, Rodrigo Guth was sent off with a red card in the 45+1st minute. The first half ended with Ajax leading 2-0.
Continuing their effective play in the second half, the Amsterdam representative brought the score to 4-0 with goals from Youri Baas in the 58th minute and Devyne Rensch in the 71st minute. In the 87th minute, Chuba Akpom scored the home team's 5th goal. With no further goals in the remaining time, Ajax left the field with a 5-0 victory.

In the first week of the UEFA Europa League, which will be held in a league format for the first time this season, Ajax will host Beşiktaş on Thursday, September 26, at 22:00. The Dutch team will face Galatasaray at home again in the final week of the Europa League on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
