Galatasaray board rejects expulsion of Mehmet Büyükekşi, whom they had previously called to resign

Galatasaray Sports Club, which issued a statement following the match where Fenerbahçe defeated Kasımpaşa 2-1, called on Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Mehmet Büyükekşi and all his committees to resign.

In the statement released by the club, the following expressions were used for Büyükekşi: “The worst TFF President in the history of Turkish football, who bows to all kinds of threats, does not take a stance in favor of justice, is a prisoner of his own anxieties to avoid losing his seat, causes the division of society, and cannot show resolve on any issue.”

According to the report by Mesut Yıldırım from Sözcü; the petition filed for the expulsion of Büyükekşi from the club, whom the Galatasaray board had called to resign, was rejected.

Members led by former executive Sedat Doğan had requested Büyükekşi's expulsion from Galatasaray by filing an application based on three separate grounds (false statement, demeaning the office of the presidency, and not upholding Atatürkist values). However, first the board and then the disciplinary committee rejected the expulsion requests.

Galatasaray Board Spokesperson Rıza Morova, while making a call to Fenerbahçe, stated: “Let us suggest this so that those who lose themselves to the point of constantly insulting and blaming others to hide their own failure, desperation, and jealousy might return to normal: Courtesy is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
