Galatasaray files complaint with UEFA against referee of Bayern Munich match

In the match where our representative in the UEFA Champions League, Galatasaray, was defeated 2-1 away by German giant Bayern Munich, the decisions made by the Portuguese referee of the match, Antonio Nobre, sparked controversy. Head coach Okan Buruk had reacted to the referee's decisions throughout the match.

Dissatisfied with the decisions made by Antonio Nobre, who was officiating a Champions League match for the first time in his career, the Galatasaray management filed a complaint against the Portuguese referee with the UEFA Disciplinary Committee.

VAR PROTOCOL VIOLATED

According to a report by Sabah, Galatasaray believes that the VAR protocol was violated during Harry Kane's offside position.

The report also stated that Galatasaray prepared a 5-page special dossier containing the position in question and submitted it to the UEFA Disciplinary Committee.

The report further emphasized that Antonio Nobre will not be assigned to another Champions League match.

WHAT HAPPENED?

When Harry Kane sent the ball into the net in the 80th minute, the assistant referee raised his offside flag. At that moment, the VAR system malfunctioned, and the position could not be displayed on the monitor on the sidelines.

Antonio Nobre was required to abide by the assistant referee's decision according to the protocol because a line could not be drawn on the screen; however, he spoke with Tiago Martins and Juan Martinez in the VAR room twice and awarded the goal.
