Galatasaray's VAR referee outcry: 'We are now looking for intent in this'
Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk reacted to the referees following the 2-0 victory over Samsunspor.
Visiting Samsunspor in the 24th week of the Super Lig, Galatasaray defeated their opponent 2-0 with goals scored in the first half.
With this result, the Yellow-Reds moved to the top of the table with a game in hand.
Following the match, Galatasaray Second President Metin Öztürk reacted to the referees.
"The VAR referee in the match we played against Fenerbahçe is the same as today's referee. We are now looking for intent in this," said Öztürk, adding, "It was a clear penalty on Icardi. There is a clear penalty on Icardi. VAR reviewed it for 4 seconds and play continued. The VAR referee should be punished."
Öztürk continued his remarks as follows;
"No one will prevent Galatasaray's championship. Galatasaray is heading towards a clean championship it deserves. We want the VAR referee in this match to be punished. Our path is the championship. We will do whatever is necessary, both at the table and on the pitch, until the end. We will not let these ill-intentioned people take away Galatasaray's rights."
