Galatasaray Water Polo team becomes European Champion!
The Galatasaray Water Polo team became undefeated champions by defeating the Slovenian team AVK Triglav Kranj 19-13 in the second leg of the LEN Challenger Cup final.
The Galatasaray Water Polo team has completed the LEN Challenger Cup as champions.
Having taken a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the first match played in Istanbul 14-6, Galatasaray also won the second match 19-13 to secure the LEN Challenger Cup title. Competing in Group C of the LEN Challenger Cup, the yellow-reds advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Sporting Clube de Portugal 27-6, Polytechnic Water Polo Club 17-8, and Klub vodneho pola Novaky 14-7. Playing against the Maltese team Valetta in the quarterfinals, Galatasaray won the first match 10-6 and the second match 15-12 to book their place in the semifinals.
Matched against the Lithuanian representative EVK Zaibas in the semifinals, the yellow-reds reached the final after winning 9-8 and 12-9.
