Fan who threw a lighter at Kazımcan during the derby detained: Here is the penalty he received

After a lighter thrown onto the pitch during Galatasaray's goal celebration hit Kazımcan Karataş in the face, stadium cameras were reviewed and the responsible fan was identified in a short time.

FAN DETAINED

Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Sports Branch identified the Fenerbahçe fan, M.G., from camera footage.

M.G. was taken into custody and processed under the 'Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports,' and it was announced that he has been banned from entering sports events for one year.

The 1-year ban given to M.G. drew significant backlash on social media. After footage was shared showing that Kazımcan Karataş faced the risk of losing his eye, many users expressed that they found the penalty insufficient.

FAN WHO THREW SHOE ONTO PITCH ALSO CAUGHT

Another Fenerbahçe fan who threw a shoe onto the pitch during the derby was also identified via security cameras and detained. It was reported that judicial proceedings regarding both incidents are ongoing.

Security measures were increased around the stadium before the match and throughout the game. Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız conducted inspections at Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium one day before the derby. Comprehensive security work was carried out inside and around the stadium with the participation of Deputy Provincial Police Chiefs and Riot Police teams.
