Fenerbahçe's penalty appeal! VAR says 'play on'
In the 59th minute of the Fenerbahçe-Kayserispor match, Fenerbahçe's penalty appeal was rejected following a VAR review. The referee signaled for play to continue.
In the 59th minute of the match where Fenerbahçe hosted Kayserispor in the 32nd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, the yellow-navy team appealed for a penalty following a specific incident.
Edin Dzeko, who met a ball played behind the defense, found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper from a tight angle after getting past his opponent. Ali Karimi, who intervened at the last moment, touched the ball during the experienced player's shot. Edin Dzeko and the Fenerbahçe players appealed for a penalty, claiming that Ali Karimi had handled the ball in the incident.
However, the incident, for which referee Oğuzhan Çakır signaled to play on, was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). The match's Dutch VAR referee, Jeroen Manschot, confirmed that the decision to continue play was correct after reviewing the incident.
Following this, the match continued with a corner kick.
