Galatasaray identifies alternative to Mikautadze: Star player on the agenda
Continuing its mid-season transfer efforts, Galatasaray has added another name to its agenda alongside Lyon's Georges Mikautadze. The yellow-reds are in talks with star player Amine Gouiri, who plays for Rennes.
Looking to strengthen its attacking line during the mid-season transfer window, Galatasaray had identified Lyon's Georgian forward Georges Mikautadze as its primary target.
However, in case the transfer does not materialize, the yellow-reds are continuing to work on alternative names.
GALATASARAY HAS FOUND MIKAUTADZE'S ALTERNATIVE
According to a report by FootMercato, Galatasaray has found an alternative to Mikautadze in France's Ligue 1.
24-year-old Amine Gouiri, who plays for Rennes, has entered the yellow-reds' list. Rennes had transferred Gouiri in 2022 for 28 million Euros.
The Algerian-born French player was on the radar of Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig during the last summer transfer window but remained at Rennes.
It is stated that Gouiri, who has a contract with his club until 2027, is open to a departure this time.
The Galatasaray management aims to complete the transfer by offering the player the opportunity to play in the UEFA Europa League.
Gouiri, who has recorded 30 goals and 11 assists in 99 matches for Rennes, draws attention with his versatile style of play.
