Neymar returns to the Brazil national team after a 1.5-year hiatus
The squad for the Brazil national team's 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Colombia and Argentina has been announced. Neymar, who ended his Saudi Arabia stint and transferred to the Brazilian club Santos, has been called up to the national team squad again after a 1.5-year break.
Brazilian National Team star Neymar has received a national team call-up for the first time since October 2023.
Head Coach Dorival Júnior has included the 33-year-old forward in the squad for the World Cup qualifying matches to be played against Colombia (March 21) and Argentina (March 26).
In a post on his social media account, Neymar stated, "I am very happy to be back."
In a previous interview, he had said: "Every player wants to defend their country and its colors. It has always been a great honor for me. I have always tried to do my best for the Brazilian National Team and gave 100 percent on the pitch. This is the place where I want to be the most."
Neymar, who returned from Saudi Arabia in January to transfer to Santos, has directly contributed with six goals in seven official matches played there. Having achieved his national team goal once again with his impressive performance, the Brazilian star wants to maintain his form with the national team as well.
