Referee Zorbay Küçük's dark past! Drugs, profanity, insults...

The betting scandal involving referees, which erupted following statements by Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, has taken on a new dimension. The TFF Legal Board announced that the most notable name among the 152 referees who placed bets is Süper Lig referee Zorbay Küçük.

It has been determined that Zorbay Küçük officiated 5 Süper Lig matches this season and has refereed a total of 77 matches over the last 5 years. The TFF has referred all referees found to have placed bets to the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK).

Zorbay Küçük's betting scandal has combined with his past disciplinary issues. The referee previously received a penalty for swearing at a goalkeeper during a 1st League match and also drew significant backlash due to an argument he had with Arda Turan. It is alleged that Küçük has generated income through defamation lawsuits he filed against individuals who swore at him.

Some sources claim that files regarding the discovery of narcotics in Küçük's vehicle were concealed within the federation.

A former Central Referee Board (MHK) member stated, "Zorbay Küçük's scandals have always been covered up. The MHK and TFF administrations repeatedly swept them under the rug, saying, 'He is a young referee with potential.'"

SEVEN Süper Lig REFEREES IN THE BETTING SCANDAL

According to the list announced by the TFF, the seven top-tier referees who placed bets are: Zorbay Küçük, Egemen Artun, Mehmet Ali Özer, Melih Kurt, Muhammed Selim Özbek, Seyfettin Alper Yılmaz, and Yunus Dursun.

The matches officiated by these referees are also being investigated in terms of odds and investments that match betting slips.

The federation will impose a ban or suspension from rights ranging from 3 months to 1 year on these individuals under Article 57. However, according to MHK instructions, even a 45-day suspension is enough to end a referee's career.
