Portugal became the 2025 UEFA Nations League champions after defeating Spain 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regular time and extra time.

In the 21st minute of the match played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Martin Zubimendi put Spain ahead 1-0 with a shot from inside the penalty area.
Portugal's Nuno Mendes stepped up just 5 minutes later, leveling the score with a precise low shot.
Mikel Oyarzabal changed the score back in Spain's favor in the 45th minute.
Portugal's experienced star and captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, followed the play well in the penalty area and scored his team's second goal in the 61st minute, bringing the score level again: 2-2.
Ronaldo, who went down to the ground in the 88th minute, was replaced by Goncalo Ramos.
As the deadlock remained through extra time, the match went to penalties.
With Spanish forward Alvaro Morata, who plays for Galatasaray, missing the 4th penalty, Portugal reached its second Nations League title in history.
