In a statement released by the Ankara-based club, it was stated: "As a result of our Gençlerbirliği Sports Club Board of Directors' decision and the discussions held with him, we have parted ways with our head coach Volkan Demirel.
We thank Mr. Demirel and his technical staff for their contributions to our club during their tenure and wish them success in their future careers."
Volkan Demirel remained at the helm of the team for a total of 15 matches this season, across two different periods.
