Germany to play in quarter-finals for the 10th time

In the Round of 16 of the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) held in Germany, Germany and Denmark faced off at the BVB Dortmund Stadium.

The match, officiated by English referee Michael Oliver, was halted in the 35th minute due to heavy rain and hail. As a result, players from both teams headed to the locker rooms. The match resumed with a referee drop ball once the intensity of the precipitation decreased.

The first half ended in a goalless draw. In the 48th minute, Denmark's Andersen sent the ball into the net, but following a VAR review, the position was determined to be offside. In the 52nd minute, following a handball by Andersen inside the penalty area, Germany was awarded a penalty kick upon a VAR intervention.

In the 54th minute, Havertz stepped up to the penalty spot and sent the ball into the net, putting Germany ahead 1-0.

In the 68th minute, Musiala met a long pass, entered the penalty area from the left wing, and sent the ball into the net to bring the score to 2-0.

As there were no further goals in the remaining minutes, Germany left the pitch with a 2-0 victory and secured their place in the quarter-finals. The 'Panzers' will face the winner of the Spain vs. Georgia match in the quarter-finals.
