In his statement, Buffon said, "Situations like these show who you are. I never turned my back on the team during difficult times."
Buffon also added, "Even if it cost me dearly in terms of my career, if I were in the same situation 100 times, I would still choose to stay."
Throughout his career, Buffon played for Parma, Juventus, and PSG, appearing on the pitch 975 times. He managed to keep a clean sheet in 429 matches.
