In the 4th week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Göztepe experienced a major shock against their guests Gaziantep FK in the first half. As the İzmir representative headed to the locker room trailing 4-0, the reaction from the stands was directed at goalkeeper Luka Gugeshashvili.
Göztepe fans reacted to the Georgian goalkeeper following the goals conceded. It was reported that Gugeshashvili made a gesture toward the stands during this time, which meant "keep going."
Head coach Stanimir Stoilov started the second half by making a change in goal. The 27-year-old goalkeeper, who saw 4 goals in the first 45 minutes, was substituted, and Arda Özçimen took over in goal.
Making a statement on his social media account after the match, Gugeshashvili responded to those who reacted to him with harsh words. The post quickly sparked debate among the fans.
What you did today was not being a fan. Of course, there are real Göztepe fans who truly love this club and stand by their team under any circumstances. I have endless respect and love for them. As for those hiding behind keyboards and talking from there, I will only say one thing: Life is long, the world is small. One day we will definitely meet on the street or somewhere else... With my endless love to the real Göztepe fans.
